The OR-HD62CD-4K22 from CYP is an Ultra High Definition (UHD) HDMI Switch providing 6 x HDMI inputs and 2 x HDMI outputs. The latest version supports 4K UHD resolution and the new HDCP 2.2 protection standard.
The ORHD62CD-4K22 features fast switching technology to dramatically improve the sync time when switching to HDMI displays compared with standard switchers. This UHD Switcher will allow up to 6 x HDMI sources (including 4k resolution) to be inputted and distributed to either or both of its HDMI outputs.
This advanced Switcher also features cutting-edge Picture-on-Picture preview functionality, allowing 5 ‘unselected’ sources to be displayed as a row of 5 small windows, overlaid on top of the main selected HDMI source signal. (please note that in this mode, both HDMI outputs will display the same feed).
The CYP OR-HD62CD-4K22 allows the de-embedding of hi-definition audio via a dedicated optical output for each of the two HDMI outputs. Features also include 4k ultra high definition video support and 3D signal support.
Control is via front panel buttons, IR remote control, RS-232, Telnet or IP control, allowing easy integration into third party remote access control systems.
What is HDCP version 2.2?
HDCP (or High Bandwidth Digital Content Protection) is a content protection technology which is designed to prevent digital AV content being copied whilst it is being transmitted between a source and display device.
HD content (for instance from a BluRay, DVD or streaming device) is usually HDCP encrypted and will, therefore, only play on HDCP-licensed devices).
This latest version - HDCP 2.2 - has been developed to support UHD 4K content. Therefore, in the future, as we start to play / stream UHD content, it is likely to be HDCP 2.2 protected which will mean that any devices on an AV system which are licensed to an earlier version of HDCP will not play the latest UHD content!
Latest HDCP version 2.2 compliant devices such as the CYP OR-HD62CD-4K22 are backwards compatible (ie. they will support content protected by previous HDCP versions), but if you're installing a new Audio Visual system, this is a great way to future-proof your system in advance of Ultra HD content becoming more widely available over the next few years.
